The report presentation program for the student workshop themed "Family in the Century of Türkiye" was held at Ibn Haldun University’s (IHU) Başakşehir Campus, addressing the current state of the Turkish population and the future of the family unit. During the event, Bilal Erdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the IHU Board of Trustees, described Turkey’s demographic projections as "grave," emphasizing that the decline in birth rates cannot be explained by economic factors alone. He stressed that the core issue lies in the social perception of parenthood and called for a "mentality shift" regarding the value attributed to the family.
Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz, Chairman of the IHU Board of Trustees, highlighted the mother’s role as the "center pillar" of the family, stating that the transmission of cultural and moral values to future generations depends on the organic bond between mother and child. Furthermore, IHU Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan pointed out that in a digitalized world where attention spans and tolerance levels are decreasing, the family institution must be sustained through patience, compassion, and empathy. He also noted that the university actively supports students who balance their academic journeys with family life.
The event, which featured sociological assessments and practical solutions proposed by students, concluded with presentations attended by Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Adil Çalışkan, along with numerous academics and guests.
