Debates on Islamic Constitutionalism in the 19th Century and Namık Kemal

In this ideas workshop conducted with our students, we analyzed the political schools of thought that emerged amidst the labor pains of modernization, along with the approaches of prominent intellectuals regarding state governance.

At the event titled "Discussions on 19th Century Islamic Constitutionalism and Namık Kemal," organized by the Political Science Club on April 21, 2026, the turning points of Ottoman political thought were examined. Namık Kemal’s conception of constitutionalism and its repercussions within the Islamic world were discussed within their historical context.
