Great Muhaddis Mustafa al-Azami Commemorated on the Third Anniversary of His Death
Ibn Haldun University Rector, Professor Doctor Recep Şentürk, was the guest of the program titled "Portrait: Professor Doctor Muhammed Mustafa al-Azami" jointly organized by the Department of Arts, Culture and Sports and the Islamic Civilization Club.

Ibn Haldun University Rector, Professor Doctor Recep Şentürk, was the guest of the program titled "Portrait: Professor Doctor Muhammed Mustafa al-Azami" jointly organized by the Department of Arts, Culture and Sports and the Islamic Civilization Club. In the program broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Department of Arts, Culture and Sports, the life of the great muhaddis Muhammed Mustafa al-Azami was discussed from different aspects on the third anniversary of his death.

At the program moderated by Ibn Haldun University Basic Islamic Sciences doctorate student Abdüssamet Koçak, Şentürk said that his teacher “Mustafa al-Azami has dedicated his life to the service of the Qur'an and Hadith, devoted himself to the path of Allah, with the love of the Prophet. He was a mujahid person full of faith and certainty.” with his words. Şentürk emphasized the sincerity of prayer and intention by saying that Allah Almighty brought Mustafa al-Azami before him when he wanted a true hadith to examine and confirm his studies and prayed for it.

"The first lesson of the science of Usul al-hadith is to be a person who has "adl and zabt.”

Professor Doctor Recep Şentürk said that after some students asked for advice from his teacher Mustafa al-Azam mentioned i "The first lesson of the science of Usulu'l-hadith is to be a person who has adl and zabt."  Then, he narrated a memory that he told to the students in his teacher's council. Şentürk said that  Mustafa al-Azamî's told "I saw a man in Egypt adding water to the milk he was going to sell in front of a sign on which the hadith-i sharif 'He who deceives us is not one of us' is written." Then his teacher said, “If you don't prepare well as a teacher, if you come in five minutes late, if you pass the lesson with useless words, you will end up in the situation of that man who adds water to the milk.” He mentioned that he gave advice to them and that this advice greatly affected his life.

“Whoever has attained the Truth(Hakk) has attained it only with decency!”

Professor Doctor Recep Şentürk, in his speech, talked about the subtleties of his teacher's thoughts and behaviors by saying "The life of great scholars is good manners from A to Z. Şentürk also talked about the style of Muhammed Emin Er, whom he mentioned on this occasion, “My teacher never once told me to do this or not. He never used a command and instruction style. This is the Sunnah, the Salaf-i Salih used to say that, it is better to do that." In his speech, he underlined that Mustafa al-Azami had a modest life. Şentürk told his memory about his teacher's not being able to eat there in the past years, after they took his teacher to a restaurant established in the Şehzadebaşı Madrasa in Fatih, teacher said, "They made the foundation madrasah a restaurant, it doesn't come out of my throat." Şentürk, on the occasion of this memory, talked about Mustafa al-Azami's reaction to the fact that the foundations were used as profit making organization other than their purpose, and his exemplary sensitivity in this regard.

“Islamic education is a comparative education.”

Şentürk said that Mustafa al-Azami, who knew the Western world very well, was also familiar with the works of many orientalists and wrote refutations to them. Saying that Islamic education is a comparative education, Şentürk said that the Qur'an mentions Nemrut when talking about Prophet Abraham, Pharaoh when talking about Prophet Musa, and enemies of Islam such as Abu Leheb when talking about Prophet Muhammad, and revealed their arguments. He ended his speech by mentioning that In the last part of the program, which took place in a friendly conversation atmosphere, questions from the participants were answered.
