'Portrait: Mehmet Zahid Kotku' Interview with Prof. Dr İrfan Gündüz
Within the scope of the event series Portrait, in which the life stories of exemplary personalities with their intellectual efforts and intellectual struggles are discussed within the body of the Islamic Civilization Club and SKS Department; The program, in which the life and personality of the Islamic scholar and writer Mehmet Zahid Kotku was the subject, took place with Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz on 27 December 2022 at the Student Center Event Hall.

The life and personality of an Islamic scholar and writer Mehmet Zahid Kotku, who is one of the leaders of science and thought who lived within the body of the Islamic Civilization Club and SKS Department, was discussed. The program was held in the form of an interview with Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ibn Haldun University.

İrfan Gündüz started to talk about Mehmet Zahid Kotku by saying, “Mercy rains down on the assemblies where righteous people are commemorated”. “M.Zahid Kotku used to evaluate the verse, hadith, and sunnahs both individually and state-oriented. The hand that gives is better than the hand that takes, with the example of the hadith, the exporting giants are superior to the importing state. Irfan Gündüz said that M. Zahid Kotku is a person who trains the staff that manages Turkey by making good use of his altar.

“M. Zahid Kotku's conversation style was in a way that everyone could understand. Even though I was an imam, I would look forward to the afternoon prayers every Sunday, as if I came out of that conversation cleanly." Gunduz said to Kotku, "Escaping from crowds is easy, you won't be able to run away easily. Knowledge is the highest of ranks, you will continue to knowledge.” He also talked about the contributions he made to his own life.

At the end of Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz's conversation about Mehmet Zahid Kotku's character, teaching, style, and role in his own world, Gündüz ended his speech with Kotku's words, "Don't even turn your worship into a custom, it's a conscious and purposeful form of worship".
