Our Board of Trustees Members, Başakşehir Mayor Yasin Kartoğlu and Gaziantep Football Club Honorary President Mehmet Büyükekşi, met with our students at the Student Center Activity Hall on Monday, 16 May, in the "Board of Trustees - Student Meetings" event series organized by the Department of Arts, Culture and Sports in order to bring together the Board of Trustees of Ibn Haldun University with our students.

In line with the questions prepared by our students, our guests were asked about their work experiences, their secrets of success, and their thoughts about our university and our students.

“People at home and abroad are proud of you.”

Başakşehir Mayor Yasin Karaoğlu emphasized how our students look from the outside: He is proud of you at home and abroad. You are in one of the most beautiful universities and you should appreciate it today.”

Yasin Kartoğlu also talked about the academies and laboratories in Başakşehir and said, “Our door is open for all kinds of collaborations, generate ideas. To achieve these please find us." Talking about the importance of academics in the district, Kartoğlu invited our students to use these academies.

“The diploma doesn't matter if you don't have +1's”

Make sure to add +1 next to your diploma. This +1 could be your social skills, your projects, your competencies, a foreign language. He said that everyone here should be a wanted man rather than a job seeker.

"It's so exciting to be with the youth."

Mehmet Büyükekşi stated that he was very excited to be with our students and underlined that the goals of our university are very big and that's why they expect great things from the star students at our university. Stating that he has been on the board of trustees since the first year of the university's establishment, Büyükekşi expressed that the main goal of our university is to train scientists and statesmen. Saying that our esteemed President has set this goal for them, and they are working toward this goal together with students, Mehmet Büyükekşi also told our student friends about the secrets of success in his own life.

“The formula for success: Love, attention, knowledge. Patience, perseverance, conviction.”

Mentioning the importance of love, perseverance, and contentment in order to be successful, Mehmet Büyükekşi continued his words as follows:

“If you love something, you start to spend time with it. The more you engage in that business, the more your knowledge increases. On the other hand, young people can be impatient. After starting a job, they can quit by not continuing in that job, that is, by not showing patience, which prevents them from being successful. Instead of climbing the steps one by one, they want to climb them three by one. Such a thing is not possible. Without perseverance and conviction, it is not possible for you to finish what you started, that is, to be successful.”

After the lectures of our esteemed members of the board of trustees, Mehmet Büyükekşi and Yasin Kartoğlu, the event continued by answering questions from our students. In particular, important questions were asked from the students about the aims of our university and what its future is. Two of our trustees underlined that our university has great goals and talked about the goals established by being inspired by what our civilization has contributed to the world. And they stated that students, academicians, and administrators should work together to see our university among the top 500 or even the top 100 universities in the world. Afterward, our event ended with a souvenir photo taken.
