The Situation of Animals on Our Campus was Discussed in the 'Towards Consultation: Discussion' Program
“Towards Consultation: Discussion” program organized by Ibn Haldun University Law Club and Student Representative Council took place on Thursday, December 22 at the Student Center.

At the event, in which the management and lecturers of our university participated, the issue of "The Situation of Animals on Campus", which is on the agenda of our campus, was discussed from different perspectives, and solutions were discussed.

The program, which was organized with a unique discussion format prepared by the Law Club and the Student Representative Council, started with the speech of the President of the Law Club, Ali Rıza Türkmen, in which he talked about the content and purpose of the program. First of all, Ebrar Karakurt, the head of the Student Representatives Board, stated that they are working on this issue with interest as a team.

Taking the floor as the first speaker, 3rd year student of the Islamic Sciences Department, Mahmut Enes Fidan, stated that they think there is a general problem with the animals on the campus and that they want to reduce the number of animals, and that the best way for animals and humans is to take this process under control in a short time. He mentioned that there are students who are afraid of cats and dogs, and that there are problems in matters such as illness and hygiene.

As the second speaker, 3rd year student of the Department of Sociology, Ebubekir Soylu, stated that they want a solution-oriented, realistic and constructive approach, and that it is difficult to send all animals permanently and that there is no place for animals to shelter.

As the third speaker, Cengiz Hanoğlu, a 3rd year student of the law department, emphasized the need to consult legal resources in such matters and emphasized the importance of having legal capacity for communities such as the animal lover team in our school. He underlined that according to the legal system, people who take care of animals act responsibly and that it is clear who will undertake the compensation for possible damages.

The fourth and last speaker, Zeynep Oral, a sophomore in the Department of Law, talked about the activities of the animal lovers community established at our University and talked about the efforts to find new habitats for animals. He stated that the support of Başakşehir Municipality and the undesirable problems that developed over time also disturbed them.

In the second phase of the program, Mahmut Enes Fidan said, "We want to go to radical ways if necessary." "Winter is approaching and the animals will be in trouble, so control must be maintained," he said. Cengiz Hanoğlu mentioned that they do not have to deal with difficulties as students and that people who take care of animals accept their responsibilities. Ebubekir Soylu said that "social changes do not happen immediately" and expressed his opinion that such problems should be approached with a solution-oriented approach and that there is a systemic error. Zeynep Oral, on the other hand, talked about possible solution suggestions and stated that they needed support to carry out volunteer work.

Answering the questions of the audience and each other at the last stage of the program, the parties evaluated that they would reach a solution by finding the opportunity to negotiate, thanks to this exemplary program for the first time.
