The "Orientation Days" for our undergraduate students who have just started our university in the 2022-2023 academic year have started by the Department of Arts, Culture and Sports. The opening of the “Orientation Days”, which will last for 3 days and include activities such as acquaintance events, department meetings, club activities, Bosphorus tour, city tour and award-winning competitions; It was held on Wednesday, September 21 with the greeting speech of Burak Erdem, Head of Art, Culture and Sports Department. Burak Erdem shared his experiences about university life and being a student at a foundation university in Istanbul in the light of his own personal experiences. Mentioning that Ibn Haldun University has advantages beyond being one of more than 200 universities in Turkey, Erdem said:
“All the promises made to you will come true and after 1 month you will say that you are glad you came here. This is a real foundation university that combines all the advantages of state and foundation universities. Since it is a boutique university, it has a friendly environment where you can communicate with academics one-on-one. In addition, when we look at the success rankings in the departments, there is a very balanced and homogeneous picture. This shows that we are far from the disadvantageous situations experienced in other universities.”
Burak Erdem also mentioned that Ibn Haldun University has an intense program in general, especially the preparatory class, but that this should not adversely affect the participation of students in social activities. Stating that the social opportunities of Istanbul and Başakşehir should be used correctly, Erdem underlined that university life is not just about academic education.
The first day of the Orientation Days continued with meeting activities where our new students mingled with each other with fun activities, department meetings where they met with their department friends and department teachers, club events where they had the opportunity to learn about student clubs, and a movie night.
